your topic today is order of operations in 5th grade math we use parentheses brackets multiply divide add or subtract first we do brackets or parentheses then multiply or divide whichever comes first last after subtract whatever comes first in example 1 the problem is 3 * 9 + 7 the first thing we do is multiply or divide first so we would we would multiply 3 * 9 which is equal to 27 so now we have the problem 27 + 7 The Next Step would be to add or subtract and 27 + 7 we get our final answer of 34 example 2 open parentheses 67 minus 18/12 parentheses divided by 7 * 3 first we will work inside the parentheses 67 take away 18 would equal to 49 that would leave us with the problem 49 / 7 * 3 now we divide 49 by 7 which gives us the problem 7 * 3 the last step would be to multiply 7 * 3 which gives us a final answer of 21 the final example is 32 + 4 * Open Bracket 12 - open parentheses 1 + 4 close parentheses closed brackets first we will work the parentheses inside the Rockets So this means we will be adding 1 + 4 and that would leave us with the new problem that says 32 + 4 * bracket 12 take away 5 close bracket the next step is to work on the brackets so that means we will subtract 12 take away 5 which would leave us a new problem of 32 + 4 time 7 The Next Step would be to multiply so we will Market 4 * 7 which would give us 28 so our new problem would be 32 + 28 and now we add 32 + 28 which gives us a final answer of 60
